2026 Election Candidate Statements

The RTC is considering removing the publicly-owned Santa Cruz Branch Line railroad tracks in order to build a cheaper trail. Friends of the Rail & Trail believes it is essential we keep the tracks so we can have passenger rail service connecting the county. We believe the RTC should save the tracks and build the trail next to the tracks, as 73% of the voters demanded when they voted “NO” on the 2022 Greenway Measure D.
